When artisans finish their studies, they are tasked with a challenging project to demonstrate the complexities of the craft that they have mastered. Saddle makers made all kinds of wonderful pieces including this leather sculpture, made by an artisan leatherworker in the early twentieth century. The gray leather and shape is evocative of a fleur-de-lis or artichoke. A rare find that will make a wonderful decorative accent and conversation starter.
